I found this information on www.polarbearsinternational.org/bear-facts/
Emma
" Polar bears are a potentially threatened (not endangered) species living in the circumpolar north. They are animals which know no boundaries. They pad across the ice from Russia to Alaska, from Canada to Greenland and onto Norway's Svalbard archipelago. No adequate census exists on which to base a worldwide population estimate, but biologists use a working figure of perhaps 22,000 to 25,000 bears with about sixty percent of those living in Canada."
The polar bear has two layers of fur, a soft under coat and an outer coat of guard hair.the guard hairs are hollow and help the polar bear float!
We found it on this site:

Polar bears have two layers of fur because it
helps protect them from the cold Arctic weather.
A thick undercoat keeps them warm.
A smooth outer coat keeps water and snow from sticking to
their fur.

Giant Pandas: Here is a link that we found before Christmas of a panda bear that was born in August of 2005. It has a live webcam of the baby panda Tai Shan and her mother.

Polar Bears live in the Artic. They eat seals and fish. Polar bears can be very dangerous, especially when hungry. They are four meters long. Polar bears have two layers of fur and they are good swimmers. Polar bears are not pets!!! Their fur is white and they have sharp claws. Jesse

I visited the Wildlife museum in Codroy Valley with my grade three class last year. There were lots of animals to see. The place is spectacular, especially the bear section. Mrs. Benoit
Did you know...you can see a black bear on display at the Codroy Valley Wildlife Museum in Codroy Valley. Mrs. Murphy
